Problem

A WooCommerce catalogue that needed search to do what ads usually get hired to do: move units.

Work
  • On-page on the homepage, not just the blog no one reads
  • Product and category SEO on a WooCommerce stack I already knew
  • Strategies from prior store work, applied harder on this catalogue

FoxxCart was a new flavour of an old job. I had done WooCommerce before. January to March 2024 I put more of the strategy on the table: homepage on-page, product SEO, category SEO, the unfashionable work of making a store's own URLs worth ranking.

The result I still stand behind is the one I wrote down at the time: products went out of stock after the SEO. Not a branded screenshot of revenue. Units, gone. foxxcart.com still has a catalogue — the site didn't vanish — but during the engagement, sell-through was the proof.

That is a better commercial signal than a vanity ranking on a word nobody buys. It is also a warning. Search can empty a warehouse that operations isn't ready to refill. I don't get to call that "growth" if the next month is a wall of 404s and disappointed carts.

Three months. Remote. United States. Fabulous while the stock lasted. The honest version is that SEO did its job, and inventory became the next brief.

Out of stock is a good problem until inventory isn't. SEO didn't restock the warehouse. It made the existing catalogue easier to find, and the catalogue ran out.
